Introduction
Starting a software house with my college friends while studying at Andalas University in Padang, Indonesia has been an incredible journey. As students in the information systems program, we wanted to provide solutions for problems in our community and give peers practical experience.
Setting Up the Business
The initial phase of establishing our software house was exciting yet challenging. We had to navigate legal procedures and financial considerations. Fortunately, we received support from our university and local entrepreneur organizations to overcome these hurdles.
Acquiring Clients
Once set up, we leveraged our networks at the university and in the local community to acquire clients. Our first major client was a campus advertising startup, which was a breakthrough project for our young software house.
Working on First Major Project
For this campus advertising platform, we collaborated closely with the client to understand their vision and needs. Our team worked tirelessly to develop a user-friendly platform on a tight deadline. Despite challenges, our determination and teamwork led to a successful launch.
Growing the Business
After showcasing our capabilities, our reputation spread. We took on diverse projects including e-commerce platforms and mobile apps, gaining valuable experience. Within two years, we successfully delivered dozens of projects for clients.
Impact
We bridged the gap between academia and industry by providing students real-world experience. Our software house made a positive impact in our local community and continues to thrive today as we explore new opportunities.
